Advanced Cardiac Life Support
ASHI Advanced Cardiac Life Support program is a scenario (case-based) continuing education ACLS course intended for trained and skilled healthcare providers who either direct or participate in cardiopulmonary emergencies and resuscitation efforts. This ACLS certification course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to enhance and refine knowledge and hands-on skill proficiency in emergency cardiovascular care. ASHI's ACLS training program conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.
Prerequisites
All individuals who participate in an ASHI ACLS class must be previously trained, skilled, and be able to:
- Perform high-quality basic life support (BLS)
- Read and interpret basic electrocardiograms (ECG)
- Understand cardiovascular pharmacology, prepare and administer essential cardiovascular medications

Performance Evaluation
Working in a team setting, competently direct the initial emergency care (including mechanical, pharmacological, and electrical therapy where applicable) for each of the following situations:
- High-quality BLS (CPR/AED)
- Respiratory arrest
- Cardiac rhythm management including pulseless VT/VF and two other rhythms
CAPCE
When offered by an authorized ASHI ACLS Training Center, continuing education (CE) hours for EMS professionals are available for ASHI ACLS from Health & Safety Institute (HSI), a CAPCE-accredited organization.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
The ASHI Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) program is a scenario (case-based) continuing education course intended for trained and skilled healthcare providers who either direct or participate in cardiopulmonary and resuscitation emergencies in children. Based on the official text of the program, PALS Study Guide, 4th Edition by Barbara J Aehlert RN BSPA, PALS provides students with an opportunity to enhance and refine their knowledge and hands-on skill proficiency in emergency cardiovascular care. This pediatric advanced life support training program confirms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.

- Perform high-quality pediatric basic life support (PBLS)
- Read and interpret basic electrocardiograms (ECG)
- Understand basic resuscitation pharmacology, prepare and administer essential medications

Successfully complete five performance evaluations, three PBLS and two PALS:
- High-quality infant BLS
- High-quality child BLS
- Bag mask ventilation
- Respiratory or shock case management
- Cardiac case management
CAPCE
Continuing educations (CE) hours for EMS professionals are available for ASHI PALS from Health & Safety Institute (HSI), a CAPCE accredited organization.
